Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan holds Ph.D. in Marketing from Business School of Sun Yat-sen University. He holds the positions of Director, Pakistan Institute of China Studies and Host Director, Confucius Institute at University of Sargodha, Pakistan. He is a seasoned professional with nearly two decades of academic and administrative experience. Prof. Awan also serves School of Business Studies, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa as Adjunct Associate Professor. He additionally holds position of Senior Research Fellow at The Center of Ethnology and Anthropology, Hunan Normal University, China and serves Researcher at The World Sinology Center, Beijing Language and Culture University, China. He is also the United National Development Programme (UNDP) National Expert (Pakistan) for Cross Cutting Practices - National Experts Program). He remained Senior Research Fellow at the China Brand Center, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou for about seven years. He also held the positions of Head of China Study Centre and Assistant Professor of Marketing at COMSATS University Islamabad. Prof. Awan was a United Nations Systems Staff College Fellow in Big Data for Sustainable Development. He also completed Youth of Excellence Fellowship in China Studies (Masters of Arts in China Studies) from Zhejiang University, China. Additionally he holds Masters in Management (specialization in Technology Management), Masters in Mass Communication, MBA (specialization in Marketing) and Honors degree in Computer Sciences.
Prof. Awan trains Moscow School of Management, SKOLKOVO EMBA students at Shenzhen, China annually and is a regular member of the global business exposure visits team of the school. He was awarded research productivity awards by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Common Ground Publishing of University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, USA. He was also awarded the scholarship for higher studies by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in support of his PhD degree from China. He delivered multiple talks, trainings and keynotes about CPEC, BRI, Marketing in developing countries, Big Data, Cryptocurrencies, etc. He wrote nearly 60 academic articles, 10 book chapters, edited 6 books and serving various journals as member of editorial team.
Prof. Awan have an aim to help improve the people-to-people relationships among Asia and South Africa region and Chinese citizens, youth development for better placement opportunities. To realize this aim he is currently providing hands on experience to the Pakistani youth in learning about China and help them become the ultimate choice of Chinese firms working in Pakistan. Similarly, he is working with African universities to bring more collaborative initiatives for Asian and African region.
