Dr. Muhammad Akhtar is a full Professor (regular) of Pharmaceutics, Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. He is also the In-Charge /Chairman, Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Dr. Akhtar has been the founding Chairman, Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. He is a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) at Punjab Pharmacy Council (PPC), Pakistan. He has been awarded PhD (Pharmaceutics) from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan including six months of PhD research under IRSIP-HEC program at School of Pharmacy, Queen’s University Belfast, UK. Dr. Akhtar completed One-year Postdoc fellowship at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King’s College London, UK where he joined a cancer research group in Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery. The highly competitive, fully funded postdoc fellowship was awarded by Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Pakistan. His research interests are targeted drug delivery, nanomedicine, polymeric nanoparticles, pharmacokinetic studies, HPLC method development and validation, solubility enhancement studies. He is HEC Approved PhD Supervisor and currently supervising PhD and MPhil research scholars in Pharmaceutics. Until now 6 PhD and 29 MPhil scholars have been completed their research and awarded degree under his supervision. More than 50 research and review articles have been published in National and International peer reviewed journals of good impact. Research grants were awarded as Principal Investigator and other research awards by various funding agencies including HEC-Pakistan, PHEC-Punjab Pakistan, Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and ORIC Research Grant-2020 IUB. He has presented in conferences at National and International (Pakistan, USA, UK, Germany, Jordan) forums and secured the travel grants funded by both the national and international funding agencies. He is reviewer of various National and International research journals. He is member of various learned societies, boards and committees. He is subject expert and external examiner of various public and private sector universities at national and international levels.
