About

I have experience in biomedical research and academic leadership, with hands-on expertise in management and training of others on specialized scientific research projects. My work spans cardiovascular physiology, molecular biology, and translational research, where I have set up and managed complex lab systems.
As PI and Co-PI on multiple funded projects, I have been involved in planning equipment procurement, overseeing installation, and training lab members to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance. During my various trainings abroad, I gained advanced skills in murine myocardial infarction and ischemia-reperfusion models, including surgical instrumentation and post-op monitoring systems which has been employed in many research projects conducted in Pakistan. I have designed and delivered specialized workshops which included modules on equipment use, safety protocols, and basic troubleshooting. These trainings have equipped graduate students and early-career researchers with the confidence to independently operate and maintain lab equipment.
I also serve as a member of Institutional Biosafety Committee having completed international workshops through CRDF Global, the Fogarty International Center (NIH), and the Pakistan Biosafety Association. These programs enhanced my skills in biosafety-compliant equipment management, especially in low-resource settings.
In my academic roles, ranging from Associate Professor, Vice Chair Education to MPhil Program Coordinator, I have integrated equipment-based research training into curricula, ensuring that students not only understand the theory but gain real, hands-on skills. I have authored technical documentation, created grant-based equipment justifications, and reviewed laboratory layouts to support research expansion.

Training Capabilities

I specialize in cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology with a focus on molecular and genetic mechanisms of ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. My research integrates animal models and multi-modal techniques to investigate pathways such as Galectin-3, Wnt signalling, Nrf2, and oxidative stress. I have led multiple funded projects as PI and Co-PI and published extensively in high-impact journals. My expertise is complemented by academic leadership in medical education and program coordination, supporting translational research and interdisciplinary team development.
