Ahmad Taufek Abdul Rahman (ATAR) is a Physics Professor in the Faculty of Applied Science, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, with several years of teaching experience at the university level, starting in 1999. His primary research interests lie in the fields of nuclear radiation and medical physics, specifically in the areas of radiation detectors and dosimetry. He is also involved in environmental radioactivity studies across the nation. His current interest is (1) Investigate new potential radiation-sensitive material for TLD and OSL applications; (2) Development of in-house Optical CT Imaging system for 3D dosimetry application in three-dimensional radiation therapy dosimetry; and (3) In the health physics area, he has involved in environmental terrestrial gamma radiation dose rate evaluation and naturally occurring radionuclide material study (NORM) including forecasting and modelling of NORM and TGRD distribution across the country.
