I am an Associate Professor and chemistry lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), with research expertise in materials chemistry, particularly layered double hydroxides, controlled-release formulations, and corrosion inhibition.
My scientific work involves powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), FTIR/ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, UV–Vis spectroscopy, SEM/FESEM, thermal analysis (TGA and DSC), and particle-size and zeta-potential measurements. My corrosion research also involves potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). I use these techniques to investigate material structure, composition, morphology, thermal stability, release behaviour, and corrosion performance.
Key projects include the incorporation of herbicides and organic dyes into layered double hydroxides, followed by physicochemical characterization, release studies, and evaluation of corrosion-inhibition properties. These projects require careful experimental planning, assessment of data quality, and investigation of inconsistent results.
Through teaching and postgraduate supervision, I guide students in experimental procedures, laboratory safety, characterization principles, and interpretation of analytical results. I also prepare teaching materials, laboratory instructions, and assessment resources to support practical learning.
My expertise centres on research applications and scientific interpretation. Equipment installation, hardware maintenance, and repairs are responsibilities I would claim only where supported by direct experience. Specific equipment models, manufacturer certifications, and formal equipment-training programmes should likewise be documented before inclusion.
I specialize in scientific instruments used for materials chemistry research, particularly powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR/ATR-FTIR), UV–Vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM/FESEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). My research also involves particle-size and zeta-potential analysis, as well as electrochemical techniques for corrosion studies, including potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
My expertise focuses on applying these techniques to layered double hydroxides, intercalation, controlled-release formulations, and corrosion inhibition.
