Mrs. Aminath Shazly

About

A Senior Lecturer at The Maldives National University, with over 12 years of academic experience in Environmental Management, and Sustainable Development. She has worked with different government sectors such as Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment, Climate change and Energy, National Institute of Curriculum Development to conduct capacity building workshops on Sustainable development for Education, Environment and Climate Change.

She also coordinates with local and regional NGOs to conduct research work and capacity building aimed at enhancing knowledge and understanding of Environmental issues, such as Climate Change impacts and possible adaptation strategies. She represented the Maldives National University on International forums & conferences presenting on the multifaceted roles of women in the society and vulnerability of women in rural island communities to impacts of Climate Change in collaboration with ARROW, regional non-profit organization focus on women and youth. She is also a member of the training working group (TWG) with Curtin Institute for Energy Transition, at Curtin University to conduct training focusing on Energy Development (https://research.curtin.edu.au/ciet/engagement/training/team/)


She has also contributed as Co-investigator for a 2-year research collaboration with European Universities through Erasmus & Programme European Union grant, awarded to The Maldives National University, for the Project, Climate Change Diplomacy Leadership and Resilience (CHILDRN) with a grant of Euro 636,939.
Present research project with Curtin University, focusing on the title “Understanding the urban realities of burning plastic waste in the Global South”, focusing on impacts to vulnerable groups such as women & children.
