Associate Professor, Government College University Faisalabad
11 years of experience
I have a Ph.D in Physics (Semiconductor Materials) and more than 11 years of experience in research and development at Department of Physics, Government College University Faisalabad (Currently working as Associate Professor). During my job tenure, I have set up two research laboratories (Bio-Sensing and Thermoelectric Labs) and the largest & and the most productive research group at Department of Physics, Government College University Faisalabad. Furthermore, my research group has developed a Seebeck system, vacuum tube furnace and thermal evaporation using indigenous resources. These systems helped to save a huge amount of money and also helped the graduate students to complete their research projects on time. I have proven track record of growing various semiconductors nano-materials for energy and bio-sensing applications. We are working on the two major issues of Pakistan i.e renewable energy and health sector. With the financial help from US Aid, we are working on the identification T.B bacteria in rural communities of Pakistan. We are developing a new technology which will be used for the fast identification of various bacteria including T.B. Interestingly; we have observed some good signatures of T.B bacteria using Raman spectroscopy. Furthermore, my research group is also working on the production of thermoelectric renewable energy using different oxide nanostructures. We have reported some healthy results for various oxide semiconductors with giant Seebeck coefficient and power factor. I have published more than 180 research papers in International Journals with cumulative impact factor of 650. In past, I have got a chance to worked as visiting researcher at UCLA and UNCC, USA. Forty graduate students (M.Phil and Ph.D) have completed their degrees under my supervision and 10 research projects from US Aid, British Council, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Pakistan Science Foundation are under my credit. I have also broken the isolation of Pakistan Scientific community by organizing five International Conferences on Materials Science and Nano-technology at Department of Physics, Government College University Faisalabad. In those conferences, renowned Scientists from USA, UK, China, Turkey, Sweden, Germany and Algeria were invited. I have technical experience on many state-of-the-art research tools therefore; I have provided technical assistance to couple of Universities in Pakistan for the installation and training of research equipments. I have set up research collaboration with research groups at UCLA-USA, UNCC-USA, St-Andrews University UK, Istanbul Technical University Turkey and many research groups in Pakistan. I was also involved in signing an MOU of my Department with two Korean companies. In those MOUs Korean companies are agreed to sell research tools to our University on subsidized rates along with the training and provision of scholarships for students. I have also contributed by working on various administrative positions such of member of Departmental purchase committee, member of board of study along with couple of other committees. I am member of some professional bodies such Materials Research Society, USA and Pakistan Vacuum Society, International Thermoelectric Society.
