Shahril Irwan Sulaiman holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. He obtained his M.EngSc in Photovoltaic Engineering from University of New South Wales, Australia and B.Eng in Electrical & Electronics from Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia. He is currently an Associate Professor in Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia and the Head of Green Energy Research Centre at the university. Besides conducting numerous contract-based research, he has been assisting the national photovoltaic industry and the government for more than a decade in areas related to training, design, installation, testing & commissioning, operation and maintenance of both grid-connected and off-grid photovoltaic systems. Besides providing technical advisory services for various sectors of industry and government agencies, he is also an accredited trainer to provide both competency-based grid-connected and off-grid photovoltaic system design training involving not only local but also international participants. Besides, he is currently the Chairman of working group in reviewing and developing Malaysian Standards and a Country Member in international IEC standards working groups related to photovoltaic system standards development. He has contributed to more than 90 publications in the field of photovoltaic systems with more than 10 postgraduate students graduated under his supervision.
