Associate Professor & Universiti Teknologi MARA
17 years of experience
Dr Mohd Idzwan Mohd Salleh, an associate professor at the Faculty of Information Science, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), brings extensive expertise in the maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and training of specialised systems and equipment within the industrial, scientific, and medical domains. His academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences (Health Informatics) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, complemented by a master’s in Information Management and a bachelor’s in Records Management. Dr Mohd Idzwan’s professional journey is anchored in health informatics, electronic health records (EHR), electronic medical records (EMR), digital records management, and information systems evaluation. He has led numerous applied research projects that necessitated the configuration, deployment, and evaluation of complex systems. Notably, his study on EHR system adoption in Malaysian healthcare institutions examined system quality and clinician performance, giving researchers quantitative information about how system reliability, interoperability, and usability affect healthcare delivery. He also supervised research on EMR system evaluation and acceptance, ensuring practical alignment between technical capabilities and user needs. In addition to research, Dr Mohd Idzwan has demonstrated strong competence in developing, testing, and troubleshooting digital tools. His award-winning Industrial Training Kit—recognised with the Platinum Award at the International Quality & Productivity Convention in Indonesia—integrated hardware and software solutions to support technical and vocational education. Similarly, the Mobile PRO-PENS V2 reporting system, which won the Public Sector Champion Award (Federal) at the Malaysia Productivity & Innovation Conference, was designed and implemented under his leadership to streamline lecturer professionalism monitoring. These projects demanded proficiency in system installation, usability testing, and resolving operational issues to ensure reliability in real-world use. As an educator, Dr Mohd Idzwan has led teaching courses with strong equipment and system components, including Data Centre Operational and Services and Digitisation of Records and Archives. These courses involved guiding students through the configuration of data centre hardware, digital scanning devices, and electronic recordkeeping systems. He has also delivered invited lectures, such as Introduction to Health Informatics at the University of Malaya Medical Centre, where he trained medical technology students on EHR and EMR systems and clinical data management tools.Complementing his technical expertise, Dr Mohd Idzwan has played a pivotal role in developing technical guidelines and manuals. At UiTM, he contributed to the formulation of policies such as the Holistic Teaching Assessment Framework and the Teaching Effectiveness Index (TEX), both of which incorporate digital assessment tools and systematic monitoring mechanisms. His work on knowledge management frameworks for big data in SMEs and enterprise content management systems further illustrates his ability to translate technical complexity into actionable solutions. Overall, Dr Mohd Idzwan combines technical proficiency in system installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance with a proven record in training, policy development, and system evaluation. His contributions to health informatics, digital records management, and industrial training technologies have been recognised nationally and internationally, underscoring his commitment to advancing digital transformation and capacity building across academia, healthcare, and industry.
