Dr. Sukreen Hana Herman is an accomplished Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), with a proven record in research, innovation, and community engagement. Her expertise spans advanced materials science, sensor technology, and semiconductor device fabrication, with a particular emphasis on hands-on mastery and technical leadership in state-of-the-art research equipment.
As principal investigator, Dr. Hana has secured and managed more than a dozen major research grants, including the FRGS, NRGS, and E-Science Fund, totaling over RM 1.3 million. She leads research projects that utilize advanced fabrication and characterization facilities, including sputtering, e-beam evaporation, spin coating, and semiconductor analyzers. Her proficiency extends to sophisticated instrumentation for material and device analysis, such as SEM, FESEM, XPS, AFM, and Raman spectroscopy.
Dr. Hana is a prolific researcher with extensive publications in top-tier journals indexed by SCOPUS and Web of Science (H-index: 13, Scopus; 15, Google Scholar), and is the co-inventor of patents for innovative device fabrication methods. She has supervised and examined numerous master’s and doctoral theses, supporting the next generation of researchers through direct mentorship and rigorous academic guidance.
In addition to her research, Dr. Hana plays a pivotal role in strengthening Malaysia’s research ecosystem. She provides expertise in research proposal development, grant writing, and scholarly publication, mentoring faculty, postgraduates, and collaborators. Her experience as a grant reviewer, thesis examiner, and research evaluator further highlights her ability to guide successful research strategies and impactful publications.
Her commitment to societal impact is evident through her leadership of community projects such as UiTM’s Knowledge Transfer and Social Innovation (KaSEH) initiative, international partnerships with BRIDA NTB in Indonesia, and as the IEEE STEM Champion globally, also through involvement in STEM outreach programs. Dr. Hana develops and delivers technical training, knowledge transfer modules, and community engagement activities focused on robotics, AI, and innovation. As an advisor, judge, and trainer for numerous national STEM competitions and innovation platforms, she inspires and equips future innovators and educators.
Currently Head of Research at UiTM’s Microwave Research Institute, Dr. Hana’s multidisciplinary expertise, technical leadership in research equipment, and dedication to knowledge sharing make her a key contributor to Malaysia’s scientific and academic advancement.
