Dr. Mohsin Abbas is a dedicated and accomplished academic and researcher in the field of Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS), with a strong commitment to advancing education, research, and professional practice. Currently he is Program Chair, Occupational Health and Safety in the College of Health Sciences, University of Buraimi, Oman. He holds a Ph.D. with specialization in Occupational Hygiene and has developed a diverse portfolio in areas such as Industrial health and safety management systems, occupational epidemiology, health risk assessment, ergonomic exposure evaluations, Sustainability, and the social and psychosocial determinants of health. Dr. Abbas brings extensive expertise in environmental regulations, occupational safety standards, and comprehensive risk management strategies. He is highly experienced in curriculum development, instructional design, and student-centered teaching approaches that bridge academic content with real-world application. His teaching philosophy integrates experiential learning and industry engagement to prepare students for contemporary challenges in environmental sustainability and industrial health and safety. He has led pioneering research on occupational injuries among insured and migrant workers, authoring three national-level studies for Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He headed an OEHS research group, he has supervised numerous student-led projects and thesis work, including 15 MPhil and 11 undergraduate research projects in the OHS domain. Dr. Abbas has published 22 Scopus-indexed journal articles (total Impact Factor = 56.2), 31 international peer-reviewed conference papers, and 6 book chapters. He has delivered more than 25 professional training sessions across universities, industries, and business chambers. His academic service includes serving on editorial boards for Scopus index journals along with peer-reviewing for several leading journals in environmental health, safety and Sustainability. He has also contributed as an invited speaker, panelist, and session chair at over 30 national and international conferences. His contributions include the establishment of occupational health and safety laboratories at both his previous and current institutions. Dr. Abbas actively participates in professional development through webinars, workshops, and conferences, and serves on various national and international advisory boards and governmental panels as an expert in OEHS. He was nominated for the prestigious Young Investigator’s Award at the 21st Asian Conference on Occupational Health (ACOH 2014) in Japan, recognizing his early-career contributions to occupational health research. With a passion for environmental sustainability and a deep-rooted commitment to advancing health and safety in industrial settings, Dr. Abbas is eager to contribute to interdisciplinary teaching, impactful research, and community engagement as an Assistant Professor in Environmental Sustainability (Industrial Health and Safety).
